A part-shaded rabbit run has a solid or covered roof panel over a portion of the run, with the remainder left open as mesh. This gives rabbits a choice between sunlight and shade, which is important for regulating their temperature, especially in summer.

Why is shade important for rabbits in a run?

Rabbits are highly susceptible to heatstroke and cannot tolerate prolonged direct sun, especially in temperatures above 25°C. A shaded section in the run allows them to retreat from the sun and stay cool without being confined to their hutch.

Can I add shade to an existing rabbit run?
