Our picks focus on weather-proofed timber, predator-resistant builds and decent floor space.
A good rabbit hutch should give each rabbit at least 3 hops of length (around 6 ft for a pair), enough headroom to stand on hind legs, a sheltered sleeping area, and access to a secure run. For UK gardens, weather-treated tongue-and-groove timber and a slanted, felted roof are essentials. See our full buying guide for sizing, materials and predator-proofing tips.
What size hutch do two rabbits need?
The RSPCA recommends a minimum hutch footprint of 6ft x 2ft x 2ft for a pair of rabbits, plus access to a run at least 8ft long.
Indoor or outdoor?
Both work. Outdoor hutches need a sheltered, draught-free spot and a weather-proof roof. Indoor cages should still allow several hours of free-roaming each day.
